Here at CVGC Headquarters we've always chosen our charity based on input from the people attending.  As much as we can, here are the things that we try to prioritize:

  • The impact that we can have.  When given the choice, we would always prefer to help out someone in real need than a large machine that wouldn't appreciate our contribution (at least as much).  That's not to say that all large non-profits are unworthy of our support.  We have supported them in the past and will continue to do so in the future, but sometimes it is nice to KNOW that we are actually helping people with what we do.  It makes our hearts happy and we're sure that it makes yours happy too.
  • Kids.  This is a gaming event after all and we are all kids at heart.  There is enough crummy stuff going on in the world that we should do everything that we can to support children and their struggling families.

With that, Daniel has come forward with what we feel is a very worthy cause for 2018:

Stephanie McNabb-Harrison was taking her daughters to the doctor this past Tuesday when they were involved in a car accident. Stephanie's 5-year old daughter Tara lost her life. Her 7-year old daughter was critically injured in the accident and is currently in stable condition. Stephanie was also injured and remains in critical condition. Both girls went to school in Taylor's school district. CVGC funds will go towards Tara's funeral and medical expenses. So far all that is up is the gofundme for the funeral. When the additional campaign for medical expenses is made I'll provide that info as well.

If you would like to contribute outside of CVGC, you can do so here:

Thank you to everyone for your support over the years.  Let's see what we can do to help the McNabb-Harrison family.
